Organizing the 'Thrift Shop' Way

One of my life purposes is to make things pretty. Whether it's through make-up artistry, styling or advising my students out of sticky situations, I just want to make the world a prettier place. That being said, when it came to organizing my make-up and brushes on my bathroom counter, I didn't want to go the ordinary route and purchase a plastic cosmetic organizer. I decided to peruse my local thrift shop to find a pretty alternative. Check out what I did...

So, I am the quintessential makeup girl. I have lip pencils, eye liners and mascaras galore.

Before I organized anything, I decided to edit. Went through the make-up and threw out what I haven't used in the last 3-6 months. To be honest, it was necessary and sanitary. If you haven't it in that amount of time, it probably has icky-agey stuff that you don't want touching your skin in the first place.

I found this pretty glassware at Goodwill Dallas for $1. It looks like it may be some sort of candy dish, but I took one look at it and decided it was a perfect place for my lipsticks!

I had an overflow of lipsticks and lip glosses, but that's okay...I bought another candy dish for a $1.

For my liners and brushes, I took inspiration from Sephora. You know how they have their brushes at the makeup station in really cool glassware? Well check this out...Tadaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I bought three vasses of different sizes at a $1 a pop at Goodwill Dallas. Add a few marbles from Michael's and here you have a beautiful display of brushes, liners and mascara.

I also purchased a little glass perfume display for 3 bucks. No more hoarding perfume bottles LOL

Well, I hope I have inspired you to organize and beautify your space. Check out this Youtube video I made with all of the above items and additional information on how I organize my space. Not only can you make your bathroom counter a pretty place to play in your makeup, you can also purchase some glassware for friends and family from your local thrift shop and create holiday gifts.
